BaZi 八字, translating as “eight characters”, is an ancient divinatory system, influenced by the principles of astrology. In this system, our ‘natal chart' is consisting of four pillars, each composed of one heavenly stem & one earthly branch — forming a chart made of eight characters.

 A “pillar” is the unification of heavenly and earthly influencing each year, month, day or hour of any given time. Pillars are formed according to an ancient time keeping system, the ganzhi 干支, offering 60 possibilities of pillars, representing the archetypal nature of time.

As we unify the 4 pillars of birth (year + month + day + hour), we obtain the map of the ‘inner landscape’. Studying this landscape can help us understand its archetypal composition, patterns, and the elemental way of our incarnation.

Through the lens of BaZi 八字, we see the nature of internal qi or life force — how energy is moving within us, where it moves, where it may be stagnant, and how our inner strength can inform our inner weakness, all becoming the medicine to our incarnation.

When we study a BaZi 八字 chart, we shed the light on its elemental composition, its energy imprint, where the life force has a tendency to get stuck, where it is strong and fluid, while also exploring the unconscious, the invisible parts awaiting to become visible and be integrated.

The BaZi 八字 astrology system gives indications on the influences of different phases of our life, our generation, our ancestors, our upbringing, our parental figures, the yin and yang expression of our nature, what enlivens our sense of ambition, our sense of responsibility, our creativity, our dharma & service to the world, what could be our ideal way of serving others, how we relate to our sense of self, our intimate relationships, the more shadowy parts of our experience, the hidden potential, or how clashes and harmful patterns can be transmuted into wisdom, how we process our emotions, and what may be present on a more subconscious level.

Studying BaZi 八字 can help us understanding the auspiciousness of timing, reminding us that we all have unique strength available to us at any given time, potential that we can harness — if we are willing to be receptive to it all.

It is my hope that this course and intimate journey of self-cultivation through the archetypal way of Nature, can help you recognize Nature and the will of the sky dwelling through you, as you, to sustain the inherent dance of life.
